UNC Women’s Basketball missing two key contributors vs. UNCG

Courtney Banghart and the UNC women’s basketball program will be missing two key contributors when they host UNCG on Wednesday night.

Along with forward Teonni Key, who has been sidelined for the entire start of the 2023-2024 season, the UNC women’s basketball program will be without two additional contributors on Wednesday night.

When the Tar Heels host UNC Greensboro at Carmichael Arena, they will have to play without guards Kayla McPherson and Paulina Paris, as they are both considered “day-to-day” with undisclosed injuries (as first reported by R.L. Bynum).

McPherson has been hampered by injuries during her early UNC women’s basketball career but has emerged into a starting role over the last stretch of games. She played 28 minutes in the loss to South Carolina, as it appeared that the restrictions on her playing time were about to (or were close to) being lifted.

After being one of the Tar Heels’ biggest contributors to start the season, Paris has seen her role decrease over the last four contests. Her minutes have fluctuated, as she just has two points over her last five games. Before that stretch, Paris scored in double-figures in two of the team’s first three games.

The UNC women’s basketball program is going to need both of these players healthy, as they are key pieces to what Courtney Banghart and her staff have put together. As the Tar Heels hit the road for a weekend clash with UConn, it will remain to be seen if North Carolina will be closer to full strength for that matchup.
