For a pair of schools with 75 miles of distance between them, Williamsburg and West Marshall have bumped into one another frequently in the girls’ basketball postseason lately.

They met in a Class 3A regional quarterfinal in 2021. Williamsburg won that one.

They met in a 3A regional semifinal in 2022. West Marshall claimed that one.

Saturday, it’s West Marshall’s turn to make the lengthy trek as the 3A postseason commences. It’s the best game in the area, with the Trojans sporting a 14-7 record while the 13th-ranked Raiders are 13-8.

Here are the area’s five best games Saturday (3A quarterfinals and 2A first-rounders), all of which tip off at 7 p.m.:

West Marshall (14-7) at No. 13 Williamsburg (13-8)

Class 3A Region 8

Stephanie Dacey’s second year at Williamsburg has been one of significant progress, from 5-17 to 13-8 and a state ranking. Dacey’s niece, junior Carly Rich supplies 13.8 points per game while sophomore Zoe Allen provides 10.1 points and 6.2 rebounds per contest. Junior Bella Borgos paces West Marshall at 20.8 ppg. The Trojans carry a five-game winning streak.

Center Point-Urbana (8-13) at North Fayette Valley (15-6)

Class 3A Region 6

Despite the records and the site, consider CPU the favorite in this game. The Stormin’ Pointers have faced a far superior schedule, and they are peaking in time for the postseason with six wins in their past nine games. CPU’s starting lineup consists of four juniors and a senior, led by Mya Hillers (9.7 points per game). North Fayette Valley was in Upper Iowa Conference contention until late in the season. Kaelyn Elsbernd is scoring at a 12.1-point clip for the TigerHawks.

Oelwein (9-13) at Waukon (12-7)

Class 3A Region 6

The former Northeast Iowa Conference rivals haven’t met since Oelwein departed the league in 2021, and the Huskies haven’t beaten Waukon since 2017. The Indians have a high-quality post in junior Keira McCormick (14.0 points, 9.7 rebounds, 2.5 blocks per game). Oelwein counters with sophomore McKinzie See (22.1 ppg, 7.7 rpg).

Lisbon (8-13) at Dyersville Beckman (7-14)

Class 2A Region 4

Beckman has won two of its last three games, and the one loss was 43-38 to No. 11 Cascade. Speaking of Cascade, that’s the opponent that awaits this winner. Senior Reese Osterhaus paces the Blazers at 12.7 points and 3.0 assists per game, while Lisbon gets 13.0 points per game from freshman Morgan Sauser and 12.0 from sophomore Kamryn Kahl. These teams have not met in the Bound era.

West Branch (3-18) at Durant (9-12)

Class 2A Region 4

Durant seeks its third victory over West Branch since Jan. 24, with the winner advancing to play at No. 6 Iowa City Regina on Tuesday. The Wildcats won five of their last eight regular-season games behind the leadership of senior Isabelle DeLong (14.4 points, 6.6 rebounds per game). Senior Kylie Pickett scores 9.0 ppg for West Branch.
