CARBONDALE, Ill. – The spring season for the Southern Illinois men’s golf team begins Monday in Montgomery, Texas. The Salukis will compete in the 13-team Bentwater Intercollegiate, hosted by Rice University. The event will span two days, with the teams playing 36 holes on Monday and 18 on Tuesday.
The Miller Course at the Bentwater Country Club traverses 6,788 yards, built alongside Lake Conroe, and plenty of natural sights to be seen. Designed by Jack Miller, the par-72 course is located in Montgomery, Texas, 55 miles north of Houston, Texas.
Richie and Andrew Thornton both shot individual lows of 66 during the fall season for SIU. The best individual finish was Edouard Cereto, who placed third at the Iowa Fall Classic. The lowest team score was 25 under par at the White Sands Bahama and Kapolei Invitationals. The highest team finish was second place at the Wildcat Invitational.
