Arsenal vs Crystal Palace Preview

Arsenal have been in scintillating form of late and haven’t lost in their last five Premier League games, however the Gunners were knocked out of the Europa League in the week by Sporting, as Mikel Arteta’s side fell at the final hurdle in a penalty shootout.

Gabriel Martinelli was the only player to miss his penalty on Thursday night, however the Brazilian has been one of Arsenal’s best players of late and as their top goalscorer in the Premier League this season he’ll no doubt start against Palace in a game where he will hope to redeem himself.

After a tough run of games in the league Crystal Palace took the decision to sack Patrick Vieira, who had failed to get a win in the Premier League in 11 matches.

Replacing Arsenal legend Vieira on the touchline this weekend will be interim Palace manager and under-21s boss Paddy McCarthy, who will have a difficult task on his hands trying to get Palace’s first win in 2023.

A win for Arsenal on Sunday would put the Gunners eight points clear at the top of the league, with their nearest challengers Manchester City not playing again until after the International break.

If Crystal Palace were to pick up their first three points of the year, they would push to six points clear of the drop zone and take a big step towards safety.
