2024 Copa America squads: Who will be taking the pitch in the United States?

Published

on

The biggest national teams of North, Central, and South America are readying for this summer’s Copa America in the United States, and preliminary squads have been announced by Argentina, Brazil, Mexico, and others.

Both Brazil and Colombia will face Gregg Berhalter’s United States men’s national team in friendlies before the tournament, and the Yanks coach has called in 27 players to duke it out for a place on the Copa America roster.

Mexico’s called in West Ham’s Edson Alvarez and Feyenoord’s Santiago Gimenez, Brazil’s named Alisson, Vinicius Junior, and Bruno Guimaraes on Dorival Junior’s team, while Argentina has named — gasp! — Lionel Messi to the squad.

There will be a wait for some squads — after all, Canada has just announced Jesse Marsch as boss — but here are the players we know are in contention to play in the tournament, which will go from June 20 to July 14.
